Here are some common gotchas when starting out with our dedicated servers:
Key not accepted
If you're confident your key was properly entered into our system, it's possible your issue is tied to the format of your private key!
We use PuTTYgen for our key generation, so please translate to relevant instructions if using an alternative key generation method.
Please ensure you export your key in the OpenSSH format. You can do this by using the navbar at the top of PuTTYgen, selecting 'Conversion', and then 'Export OpenSSH Key'. You can then try this new key (which we recommend saving with extension '.key' for clarity) in PuTTY.
Once you are confident this works, we recommend storing your key in Pageant for easy access later! We ALWAYS recommend you store keys encrypted for security reasons, along with an encrypted hardware backup for additional levels of redundancy.
